Alkham Valley Community Project

A few months back I did some work for Alkham Valley Community Project, a charity that provides riding and carriage driving opportunities to disabled children and adults. They were running a campaign for the peoples millions with the national lottery to win funding to buy another wheelchair accessible carriage and a few more ponies to cut Teds workload.
Now, as you have witnessed and i've stated many times, because I am completely useless at keeping my blog updated the voting on this particular scheme ended a good few months ago (absolute fail on my part) however I wanted to spread the word about this charity now because I know they do some wonderful work and from the day I spent there taking photos of the kids who regularly visit the centre it really does brighten up these peoples lives.
I'm not going to get into the detailed side of therapeutic benefits of being around horses, it's long and i'm sure it will bore you, but even as an activity it gave these kids something they could achieve and were incredibley good at doing!! I learnt from the team that the only other place to offer disabled carriage driving is in scotland... that would be a long journey from the south coast!
so i'm just showing my support and hopefully raising some awareness to an organisation that you may not have heard of but may feel you'd like to lend your support to.

Whilst i'm on the topic, there's also The Paddocks. I've shot regularly for this riding school at shows who give riding lessons to less fortunate children. I believe they even have riding for the blind. These establishments can only keep running so long as they receive funding so please check them out and if you feel they're the "right charity for you" show your support :)
